kids bikini bra Apr 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) London retailer, Primark, has pulled their collection of children’s bikinis with padded bras from the store shelves after being accused of promoting the sexualization of children. A tabloid newspaper, and child protection agencies launched complaints which finally accomplished having the suits taken off the shelves.

A child protection consultant by the name of Shy Kennan, who works for Phoenix Chief Advocates stated, “It never fails to amaze us just how many ordinary High St household names are now prepared to exploit the disgusting ‘paedophile pound’ to feed a dark market that has no place in our society, let alone near our children. As victims advocates we know why you should never sexualize children or help to normalize the sexualization of children. They may be learning how to look sexy in an adult way, but no one is teaching them what to do if they receive robust unwelcome adult attention.” The Sun newspaper ran a front page story criticizing the bathing suits.

The bikinis featured extremely low cut halter style padded bras which sold as a set for around 6 bucks. It was not a slightly padded top, but is being compared to Victoria’s Secret bras. According to news sources, there was enough padding in them to make a seven year old girl look as if she had breasts, which is the age group these suits were focused at.

A Fox News Medical A Team member and psychiatrist said that sexy clothing such as this can be dangerous to young girls. “It can be psychologically damaging to encourage girls at age 7 or close to that age to consider themselves as sexually attractive to boys or men,” Dr. Keith Ablow told FoxNews.com. This is just a symptom of a much larger problem. You could walk through any department store in the U.S. and find many objectionable items for similar reasons,” Ablow said. “ “Families are routinely buying clothing with provocative wording on the back of sweat suits where ‘juicy’ appears on a girl’s backside at age 9 or 10, or the words ‘pink’ appear near a secondary sexual characteristic at age 9 or 10. Retailers have not taken responsibility, nor parents, to choose more wisely what young girls wear.”

Primark released their own statement in answer to the accusations, “Primark has taken note of the concern this morning regarding the sale of certain bikini tops for girls, a product line that sells in relatively small quantities. The company has stopped the sale of this product line with immediate effect. Primark will donate all the profits made from this product line to a children’s charity, and apologizes to customers for any offense caused.”

Hopefully, the “children’s charity” will trash the suits.
