Feb 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Stefaan Engels ran a total of nine thousand, five hundred, and sixty nine miles in three hundred and sixty five days, running a marathon every day, for an average of a little over twenty six miles a day.

A report from the ‘BBC’ states that the marathon runner just sees the sport as his job. The forty nine year old averages about four hours each day, with his best time being almost three hours. Engels told BBC, “I don’t regard my marathon year as torture. It is more like a regular job.”

He was advised by his physician not to run because he is a sufferer of asthma. He ran his first marathon at age twenty five, in an attempt to overcome his ailment. “There were a lot of moments when I thought ‘Today, I won’t finish,’” he shared. “One of the hardest moments was in Mexico City after a long flight, the altitude and I had gotten sick from eating something, and I thought ‘What am I doing here?’”

A report from the ‘Associated Press’ says that Engels’ year of running has crushed the former Guinness Book of World Records holder, Akinora Kusada, who ran fifty two races in 2009.
