Florida, Mar 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Stay Thirsty has made a mark for itself in the upcoming Florida Derby 2011. The $500,000 2-year-old horse on Saturday proved that it should be watched out for when it won the third stakes at Bernardini.

The rider of the horse, Ramon Dominguez, spoke about his delight for the improvement of the horse. He said that, “He’s coming in off only five breezes, going a mile and a sixteenth, and he hasn’t run since November 6. It was very encouraging. I was a little concerned when he broke just a step slowly, sort of tossed his head at the break, but he recovered real quickly and put himself in a good spot.”

Dominguez was most impressed with the way that the horse completed that race and he is convinced that the animal is in a great shape to take the Florida Derby.

The Florida Derby 2011 race winner would be walking away with $1 million prize money. The other favorites for the race include Uncle Mo and Toby’s Corner. The bookmakers however favor the more experienced Uncle Mo to win this year’s derby and gain the bragging right for the rest of the year.
