Starbucks Takes ‘Tall’ Drinks Off Drive-Thru Menu
September 9th, 2010 - 10:37 pm ICT by Angela Kaye Mason ( Leave a comment )Sep 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Starbucks, the famous beverage shop known for “Tall Lattes” and such, has announced that they are taking their “tall” items off the menu of their drive-thru. While many people are complaining that this is simply a move by the company to get patrons buying larger drinks, Starbucks maintains that it is simply a move to clean up their messy menus, and the tall drink is still available, just not advertised.
According to ‘MSNBC’, the 12 ounce “tall” was eliminated as a way to de-clutter the drive-thru menu. Deb Trevino, a spokeswoman for Starbucks explained that most customers order the larger drinks from the drive-thru window anyway, which is why the 16 and 20 ounce drinks, the “grande” and the “venti”, are still advertised at the window. You can still order a “tall” which is 10 ounces, or a “short” which is 8 ounces, at the window, it just won’t be advertised on the board.
Spokeswoman Stacey Krum stated, “We’d heard from customers that our drive thru menus were cluttered and made it difficult to order. So we redesigned them focusing on making ordering easier by reducing the number of items and adding more product shots. Overall, we reduced the number of items on the menu by about two-thirds - typically going from 75 to 25 items.
The items featured are our most popular items, including our most popular sizes - grande and venti. Ordering options are not limited to what’s on the menu, and just as with the short size, drive thru customers may order any item or size of beverage we offer in the store.”
