Washington, Sept 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A five-year-old girl discovered a secret camera that had been hidden in a toilet in an outlet of Starbucks. The incident happened last August and the family of the little girl are suing the retail giant for the camera.

After the camera was found, the girl’s father, William Yockey, contacted the police who identified that the camera was in recording mode. The police have not made any arrests. Yockey has sued Starbucks for putting his daughter through “permanent and continuing emotional pain and suffering, humiliation, embarrassment and great emotional distress.”

The incident happened at a Washington D.C. outlet of the shop. The suit was filed at the D.C. Superior Court. Starbucks reportedly tried to get the court to dismiss the case but the judge didn’t grant that request.

A spokesperson of Starbucks Alan Hilowitz told reporters that, “Our store partners took swift action as soon as they became aware of the issue - immediately alerting the police department and assisting in the investigation.”

Hilowitz said Starbucks is cooperating with the police in their investigation. He declined to comment further on the issue stating that the case is already before the court.

The police are still studying the camera which was found installed in the toilet seat facing upwards.
