Stamford, CT man charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition

NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT (BNO NEWS) – A Stamford, Connecticut man on Wednesday was charged with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a previously convicted felon, U.S. Attorney Nora Dannehy announced.

Damon Joyner, 37, was in possession of a Ruger .22 caliber handgun and 50 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition on September 9, 2008. He had been previously convicted nine times. Larceny, robbery, burglary, possession of narcotics, possession or a firearm without permit and escape were some of the previous felony convictions.

If convicted, Joyner faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000. It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition.
