spirit-halloweenOct 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) While most people are deciding on the best way to decorate their house for Halloween, there are some children who would miss out on the fun, as they are in hospital. The children though were in for a big surprise when Spirit Halloween, a local store brought the party to their doorstep. On Tuesday, Spirit Halloween visited the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans and donated costumes to the children and had their parents dress up as well. The children who would have missed on the trick-or-treating this year had a blast with Halloween having arrived early for them.

Lee Myers, Children’s Hospital Child Life Department director, said that the event organized by the store brightened the patient’s day. She further said that events such as this, help the children focus on something else other than the treatment. Such events help them to cope up with the hospital. The event was a much needed diversion, as it is difficult for children to have fun while being in hospital. The fun was not restricted to the children alone. Their parents were made to join and many took part in the event.

Eric Mhgee, a parent had transformed as Michael Jackson while his daughter dressed as Alice in Wonderland. The parents reported their children as having felt much better after the event. There are some children who could not get out of their rooms and have fun with others but the store made it a point to leave costumes for them as well. The store is reportedly collecting donations from customers for the hospital. The money will help the hospital in arranging for play therapy and providing distractions to the children in the hospital.
