Southern insurgents turning themselves to authorityJuly 12th, 2008 - 9:58 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
The Yala Governor, Mr. Thira Mintrasak, says a group of southern insurgents have turned themselves to the authority.
Mr. Thira says officials in the three southern border provinces are using peaceful means together with rigorous inspection to address the ongoing southern insurgency, and they are effective at a certain level.
The Yala Governor says a number of local insurgents have surrendered themselves to the state officials. However, he would like them to understand that they will still face legal actions, should they have criminal records such as murder, arson and planting bombs.
Mr. Thira, however, urges the southern insurgents to accept their mistakes and become a good citizen once again in order to bring back peace to the deep South.
