The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President, R. Albert Mohler says that Yoga is not a Christian belief.

He claims that Yoga practice was derived from Eastern religion and warned Christians not to practice it. Mr. Mohler disagrees that the body is a vehicle for reaching consciousness with God. He says the practice cannot be pathway to God and said the practice is just not Christianity.

Mohler claimed that with the exception of Christianity, all other religion are demonstration of the power of Satan. “I’m really surprised by the depth of the commitment to yoga found on the part of many who identify as Christians,” according to Mohler.

He was addressing the feedback of an earlier essay, which he wrote about Yoga. He further warned that Christians who perform yoga should either deny the reality of what yoga stands for or fail to see the contradiction that existed between the Christian belief and yoga.

By Mohlers submission, religions like Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Marxism are all forms of satanic worship. Though some believe his comments are what he believes, others argue that it does not promote freedom of religion, which is a fundamental freedom. There has been no reaction on his comment by any other religion.
