Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas Eats 181 Wings At Wing Festival

Sep 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sonya Thomas wolfed down 181 Buffalo Wings in twelves minutes at the Ninth Annual National Buffalo Wing Festival on Sunday, making her the new champion after eating the 4.46 pounds of chicken wings.
The spicy chicken wings have come to be known as “Buffalo Wings” since Buffalo, New York is said to be the birthplace of the American snack, which consists of wings which are usually fried, but sometimes baked, and then smothered in very spicy and tangy sauce made of hot sauce and vinegar.
The number one contender, as professional eaters go, known as Joey Chestnut, was expected to win the contest, but came in a close second to Thomas. The tiny, 43 year old woman stands 5 feet tall and weighs only 105 pounds, and calls herself “Black Widow” because she has a tendency to take down males who are much larger than herself. Chestnut stands 6 feet 2 and weighs 230 pounds. It was the first time Thomas had ever faced Chestnut, who is considered the Number One eater in the US.
Even after the contest, Thomas claimed to be hungry and showed up at the Ridiculously Hot Buffalo Wing Eating Contest, and ate 20 more wings. “The hottest wings!” she stated. “I had to drink a lot of water.”
