Somali pirates free Taiwanese fishing vessel
February 11th, 2010 - 11:49 pm ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )MOGADISHU (BNO NEWS) — Somali pirates on Thursday released a Taiwanese fishing vessel after nearly 10 months of captivity, officials said.
The M/V Win Far 161 had been anchored off the Somali coast near Harardheere for nearly 10 months when pirates vacated the vessel on Thursday evening. The captain of the ship has since re-taken command and reported that all crew members are well and were released with food, fuel and water. A total of 28 crew members are on board.
The Taiwanese fishing vessel was hijacked on April 6, 2009 in the Somali Basin, approximately 160 nautical miles north of Seychelles.
