Snow Storm Forces Flight Cancellations And Delays In Philadelphia Airport

planePhiladelphia, Dec.21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Holiday travelers who are accessing the Philadelphia International Airport are facing a hard time as all the flights moving in or out of the airport are either being canceled or delayed owning to a snow storm. Sources revealed that around 80 per cent of the flights flying in the Philadelphia airport had to be rescheduled due to the difficult weather conditions. The airport supposedly witnessed around 23.2 inches of snowfall, which is the second highest snowfall that the city has ever recorded.

Moreover, the unfavorable weather situation has forced flights arriving in the airport to be delayed for an elongated period of time with most of the flights taking off after an approximate delay of 2 hours and 14 minutes. At the same time, authorities have revealed that the flights which are taking off from the airport are also experiencing difficulties during take off, due to which pilots have to wait till the weather clears up considerably. Moreover, passengers traveling through the airport had to face a harrowing time during the the past weekend as due to the unfavorable climatic conditions the airport had to be shut down on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Phyllis Van Istendal, spokesperson of the Philadelphia International Airport has clarified that owing to the bad weather no more planes were expected to land and the airfield was closed down on Saturday but it was reopened again on early Sunday morning. Moreover, travelers have been asked to verify whether the flights are canceled or have been delayed for the time being until the weather condition improves for the better.
