LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — A small plane landed on a southern California freeway on Wednesday, but causing no damage or injuries, federal officials said.

The landed on the northbound 57 Freeway near Pomona around 7 p.m. local time after reporting engine problems to air traffic controllers at Brackett Field in La Verne, according to Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). “The plane was not damaged and the pilot, who was the only person on board, was uninjured,” Gregor said.

Authorities are planning to get the American Champion Citabria plane off the freeway as soon as possible. “An NTSB investigator is on the scene,” Gregor said. “The FAA will investigate this incident.”

The 1969-build plane was registered to John E. Findley, Jr., who lives in the 1300 block of Maywood Ave in Upland, according to federal records. His plane is capable of carrying a pilot and one passenger.

Gregor said the pilot was headed to Cable Airport in Upland.
