Small plane lands on I-80 near Reno, NV

RENO, NEVADA (BNO NEWS) — A small plane made a safe emergency landing on Interstate 80 near Reno, Nevada on Monday after experiencing engine problems, federal officials said.

The incident happened around 10.20 a.m. PST when the Cessna 172 experienced engine failure and landed safely on I-80, about 3 miles east-northeast of Reno. “The plane lost its tail wheel during the landing,” said Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Four people were on board the 1957-build plane, which was registered to Durousseau Joseph Harry Trustee in Sparks. No injuries were reported.

An FAA safety inspector is en-route to the scene to investigate the accident.
