Small plane crashes into a 7 storeyed Austin Building
February 19th, 2010 - 12:28 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt Austin, Feb 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A small private plane crashed into a seven storeyed corporate office building in Austin, which is located on a major highway. After the crash, black smoke was billowing out from the 2nd and the 3rd storeys of the building. This crash happened on Thursday morning. Fire crews were trying their best to rescue one person, who is believed to be trapped inside the building. Most of the people had evacuated the building, and were standing in the parking lot, and watching the fire crew battling the fire.
According to a division chief with the Austin Fire Department, the whereabouts of 1 person is still not known. He is believed to be trapped inside the building. The fire crews rushed to the building, when they received a 911 call at 9:57 am. The building is located at the 9400 block of Research Boulevard, which is a major highway in Austin.
It is not known how many people were onboard the small private plane. The latest reports say that 2 people are injured, and have been taken to the hospital. Department of Homeland Security Deputy Press Secretary Matthew Chandler told BNO News that no criminal or terrorist activity suspected in Austin plane crash.
