Small plane crashes in New Jersey
August 21st, 2009 - 10:16 pm ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )TETERBORO, New Jersey. (BNO NEWS) — Two people were injured when their small plane crashed near Teterboro Airport in New Jersey on Friday morning, officials said.
The crash happened at approximately 3.20 a.m. local time when a small twin-engine plane carrying two people failed to land on its approach to the airport. The plane went past the airport, clipped a tree and landed in a grassy area just north of Route 46, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The two people on board were able to exit the plane and were transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. A fire on the plane was put out by Port Authority responders and local firefighters.
The National Transportation Safety Board is on the scene to investigate the cause of the crash. No one on the ground was injured.
