Small plane crashes in middle Tennessee
September 2nd, 2009 - 2:30 am ICT by BNO NewsSMYRNA, Tennessee (BNO NEWS) — A small plane crashed near a regional airport in middle Tennessee on Tuesday, officials said.
The crash happened around 2.15 p.m. EDT when a small experimental aircraft was departing from Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport.
The plane crashed into trees after it took off from runway 3T, according to FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen.
Bergen said the plane caught fire after the crash and the pilot sustained minor injuries.
