EAST PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) — A small plane crashed in a East Palo Alto, California neighborhood on Wednesday morning, fire and federal officials said. There was no immediate word on casualties.
The plane went down in the area of Beech Street on Wednesday morning, according to a dispatcher. Unconfirmed reports say that several structures are on fire.
According to Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane departed from Palo Alto Airport for Hawthorne Municipal Airport in Southern California. He said the plane was a twin engine Cessna 310, which is capable of carrying a pilot and a maximum of four passengers.
“The airplane crashed under unknown circumstances into a house one mile northeast of the airport shortly after taking off,” Gregor said. “The house is on fire.”
It was not immediately clear how many people were on board the plane, or if there any casualties.
According to federal records, the 1976-build plane was registered to Air Unique, Inc. based in Santa Clara.
