Sludge kills 4 in Hungary

Local residents said that it is an ecological disaster, which swallowed people. However sources claim that a wave of industrial waste has washed through several villages in Hungary killing four.
A 1 year old girl and 3-year-old boy lost their lives when slurry from an aluminum plant reached their home. Zoltan Illes, state secretary for the environment MTI a state news agency said that a mission is on to find the missing people. He added that a pensioner died when wave of sludge hit his home and a man was found dead under his vehicle.
According to reports he died when a 700 000 cubic meters of the caustic red sludge from industrial waste storage reservoir hit his vehicle. Sludge was affected near by villages and in Devecser 200 homes were found flooded.
Many local residents required urgent hospital treatment. In the capital of Budapest at about 150 km southeast a helicopters and army personnel were sent to aid and rescue the victims of sludge. Police has launched an investigation into the disaster. There are unconfirmed reports which say that some of the missing people might actually be dead.
