Skyrider Airline Seats Sep 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An aircraft seat design company in the Latina, Italy will unveil the “SkyRider” seat at the Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas Conference. The Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas Conference will take place next week at Long Beach.

The airplane seat design is such that it will give the passengers the experience of riding on a horseback. Passengers will sit at an angle during the flight and the space between the seats will be no more than 23 inches, thus providing more seating on the plane. The design will be appealing to low budget airlines that have longed to offer passengers standing room option for short trips.

Though the seat is not yet available in airplanes, the seat manufacturers say that several airline companies around the world have contacted them and expressed interest in the design.

“We feel extremely confident that this concept will … have great appeal to airlines for economic purposes,” according to Dominique Menoud, director general of Aviointeriors Group.

The design will undoubtedly cramp more passengers in the plane but whether that will go down well with passengers remain to be seen. With the space between seats, the idea might not be feasible in long distance flights.

One thing that remains clear however is that the design if accepted, might affect the future designs of aircrafts.
