Six dead in eastern Kentucky shooting massacre

BREATHITT COUNTY, KENTUCKY (BNO NEWS) — Several children were among five people killed by a gunman in eastern Kentucky on early Saturday afternoon, local officials said. The gunman killed himself.

The shooting happened around 12.30 p.m. EDT in Mount Carmel, in Breathitt County, but few details were immediately available. Breathitt County Sheriff Ray Clemons confirmed to BNO News that a man killed five people before turning the gun on himself.

Clemons said the victims were believed to be family members of the gunman, which included children. The local coroner said the shooting happened in a mobile home not far from a school in Mount Carmel, but had no other details.
