shroudTurin, Feb 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Imagine getting to actually see the cloth which wrapped the body of Christ after His crucifixion! This is the anticipation that is causing experts to expect millions to travel to see this magnificent piece of history. Although there has always been controversy over the authenticity of the shroud, believers stand firm in their convictions that this is indeed the cloth which held Jesus’ body, and scientists have been unable to prove otherwise.

As the city of Turin prepares to display this Holy Cloth, Benedict XVI waits to see it for the first time since he was declared pope. According to Msgr. Giuseppe Ghiberti, President, Diocesan Synod of Turin “The problem of natural science practically comes down to two main principals: the date of the shroud with the image and how it’s the image has taken shape.”

Over a million reservations have already been made from all over the world. Each person will only be allowed three to five minutes to view the cloth, but that has not stopped people from planning to travel thousand of miles just for this brief moment with the famous shroud. This showing will occur from April 10 until May 23 at the Turin Cathedral in the city of Turin. The viewing will be free but reservations are required. They are hoping for over two million viewers during the 44 day period. Reservations can be made online at the Archdiocese of Turin Website at www.sindone.org/.
