shooti July 19, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): A shooting incident that triggered off at a state park near Seattle on Sunday, left two dead and four injured. The shooting took place between two groups reported the investigators looking after the incident. One of the groups had apparently been having a birthday party.

Sgt. John Urquhart from the Sheriff’s office for King’s County stated that the killings had taken place at the Lake Sammamish State Park. A man from each of the groups had been shot dead. They were identified as 33 and 30 year old men from Kent and Seattle respectively.

While one of the victims had a gun on his person, the second one was unarmed. The park is situated almost 20 miles from Seattle itself.

The argument turned violent ensuing into a gun fight at about 9 PM on Sunday, John Urquhart told the Associated Press. He also said that the Sheriff’s office was trying to discover the cause for the violent showdown between the two groups.

He further stated that both the groups consisted of men who had connections with some of the gangs but their role in the shooting incident is not clear as yet. The brawl started with fisticuffs when one of them fired in the air as a sign of warning. The fight grew more violent soon with almost everyone pulling out their own guns thereafter, he added.

The park and the lake are popular spots for boating and family outings. They had to be kept closed on account of the investigations, last Sunday. The investigators reported finding 4 guns and as many as 20 spent cartridges. Six people have been arrested so far but not jailed yet. The ranger of the park had alerted the authorities after hearing gun shots in the park.

At least three people with serious gunshot wounds were treated at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle reports the Seattle Times. A fourth person was traced to the Overlake Medical Center located in Bellevue.
