Shivering horses get indoor exercise place in Bairoil
September 22nd, 2010 - 8:36 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattBairoil, Sep 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The town of Bairoil has opened an 80 by 120 foot barn for people to take their horses for exercise during bad weather.
Media reports say the barn has lights, which allow the place to be used even when it is dark. The barn however does not have a heating system and neither any seats. The barn is owned by the town authorities and residents will need to pay a fee to use the barn. The barn is opened 24 hours a day and everyday throughout the week. This arrangement makes the barn available to subscribers anytime.
The barn is made of metal and has a dirt floor. Town Clerk Barb Miles explains it this way: “We don’t have a lot of protection from wind and snow from any direction.”
Individuals will have to pay from $35/month and those using the barn for commercial use will have to pay $100/month. Users will be issued with 8 digit code after the payment of the fee and they can access the barn anytime until the code expires.
The barn will provide protection for horses and their livestock against harsh winter conditions. The barn opened last spring but there have not been so much interest in the barn. However officials of the town expect that to change when the winter sets in later this year.
