Sanford, Nov.18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Shaniya Davis, the 5 year old girl who was reported to be missing since last Tuesday was found dead on Monday. Police have found the body of Shaniya Davis from a wooded road of North Carolina, close to her home. The tragic death of Shaniya, who is a victim of child abuse and trafficking, has left everyone stunned in silence. Her autopsy will reveal the reason on why she died.

According to sources, the autopsy of Shaniya Davis’ body would be done at Chapel Hill in the office of Chief Medical Examiner, in North Carolina. Officials have stated that the autopsy report would give them some idea about the cause of the death and also be instrumental in the further investigation of the case.

Meanwhile, Fayetteville police said they had “new information” about the case, which led them to cancel a news conference scheduled for the media. Police did say that some additional charges are expected to be filed in the case.

A spokeswoman from the FBI’s Charlotte office confirmed that the FBI had been called in to support the local authorities in their investigation, but would not provide other details regarding the FBI’s involvement.

Meanwhile her mother, Antoinette Davis is scheduled to appear in court. Police said that the arrest documents state that she “knowingly provide[d] Shaniya Davis with the intent that she be held in sexual servitude” and she “permit[ted] an act of prostitution.”
