Philadelphia, Nov 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) has finally gone on strike, after the negotiation talks failed. SEPTA’s strike will close all subway, bus and trolley services. The SEPTA Transport Workers Union Local 243 Strike started at 3 am EST. It is affecting the counties of Bucks, Montgomery and Chester.
Millions of commuters will be affected by the strike on Tuesday. They would need to search for alternative means of transportation as the strike came as a complete shock to early morning travelers.
According to the news reports, “All bus, subway and trolley services in the city will be interrupted by the strike. Regional rail service, most buses operating out of the 69th Street Terminal and “LUCY” buses, which run through University City, have crews covered by separate contracts and thus will continue operations”.
Governor Rendell has called the SEPTA strike “irresponsible” and Mayor Nutter calls it “outrageous”.
SEPTA provided around 928,000 trips daily. Now with the strike in place, the most affected are the travelers who would be forced to figure out alternative modes of transport.

It gives me hope to see that some workers still have a little power over their own lives. I support the strikers and hate to see other working-class people getting down on them. They deserve an honorable wage just like all of us do. And just because most of us get s*#t on by our employers doesn’t mean the strikers are wrong. We should all support and learn from their brave actions. Go union labor!
