SEATTLE, WASHINGTON (BNO NEWS) – A Seattle, Washington felon was sentenced on Friday to 100 months in prison and three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a gun, prosecutors announced.

Daniel Orlando Hayes, 31, was arrested on July 6, 2009 with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol aboard of a bus. The Metro bus driver alerted the police that Hayes was threatening passengers with a firearm.

Before getting on the bus, Hayes asked another man, who was waiting at the bus stop as well, about his shoe size. Then, he put out the gun and pointed it at the man. When the bus arrived both got inside. The driver faked a mechanical problem and pulled to the side. Moments later he managed to alert the police and Hayes was apprehended. No passenger was injured.

Hayes’ gun was reported as stolen in Kent. He mustn’t possess a firearm due to a previous felony conviction in 2006.
