Aug 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bad news for all those who planned to go out camping in the Yellowstone area as scientists have revealed that the grizzlies are expected to be hungry and bloodthirsty this fall. As the usual food sources of the large animal like nuts and whitebark pine cones are becoming scarce in the area, the bears will look for a more high protein food to put on the fat for the long winter. On the menu is meat and the encounters therefore, between man and bear, is bound to increase in the days to come.
This has been one of the deadliest years in terms of bear attack as two people have been killed and as many as 22 bears have been killed or relocated for attacking humans. The food shortage is expected to intensify the problem with some wildlife researchers already reporting some of the bears coming down from the mountains into areas that are frequented regularly by humans. Chuck Schwartz, a grizzly researcher with the US Geological Survey has asked the people to carry their bear-sprays as there are bound to be run-ins.
Full grown bears are known to stand more than 6 feet tall and weigh over 600 pounds. They are also known to peel off a man’s face with their deadly and powerful claws. One of the bear experts have said that the bears are desperate for any kind of meat at the moment and there are already reports of bears on road killed animals in the surrounding areas of Yellowstone National Park. The most at risk from bear attacks who sneak around the woods at dawn and dusk and make the calls for their game and often attracting a hungry bear instead.
