California, May 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amy Victoria Beck, a 33-year-old teacher had confessed at the California Police Headquarters that she is guilty of having sex with her 14-year-old student. The teacher was thus arrested by the authorities on charges of unlawful sex and committing lewd acts on a child. The teacher is now behind bars, and is serving a term of two years in jail, of which the first six months have been exempted keeping in mind the fact that the teacher herself owned up to her crime. Amy Victoria Beck’s husband is employed under the LA police and if the teacher shows good behavior while in prison she may also be released earlier.

Amy Victoria Beck is a mother herself. It has been reported that she engaged in such unlawful behavior back in March, 2009, and once she was aware of the fact that she would eventually be arrested by the police, she herself decided to surrender to the police. Amy Victoria Beck also decided against posting a bail of $175,000 at the time of hr arrest. The most interesting part in the whole incident is that though her husband is a police himself, he has stood by his wife from the day that she was arrested.

Sexual misconduct on the part of teachers in various schools of America is becoming an increasing problem by the day. Reports of teachers sexually exploiting their students who are mere children are often heard of through various media including the net. A survey on the other hand reveals that these teachers are winners of several awards in the field of education.
