lesbian promMississippi, Mar 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Constance McMillen, the 18-year-old student who was denied entry to the prom event of her high school has taken the legal path to win her right. She has approached federal court to compel the Mississippi school district to revert their decision to cancel the prom that she was supposed to attend with her lesbian partner. She insisted that she would attend the high school prom with her girlfriend wearing a tuxedo. In return, the school board called off the prom altogether. As one can understand she is far from happy at this development and seeks justice.

She faced some visibly upset classmates who deemed her responsible for this unfortunate development. She has got the support of the American Civil Liberties Union and it as moved court on her behalf. The event was slated to be organized on April 2. She is a student of Fulton’s Itawamba Agricultural High School. As per the lawsuit, the school should go on and arrange the prom as it had planned. As per the claims of ACLU, the school district is going against the free expression rights of the student by restricting her from wearing a tuxedo to the prom.

The student said on her part that she is extremely upset at the action of the board but she would not give up so easily. Luckily for the girl, her father is giving her the mental support she needs. She said that her cat of courage will inspire more same-sex couples to assert their rights in the future. The LGBT groups of USA have raised their voices in her support.
