Scarlett Pimperal is up for sale. It is a redbrick property covering nearly ten acres of parkland. The property which is near Bearsted, dates from the 17th-Century and comprises of 11 bedrooms, five rooms for reception purposes, a lodge of three-bedroom lodge and complex cellars. There are beautiful flowers in the artistically landscaped garden. Scarlett Pimperal author Baroness Orczy and her husband Montague Barstow used the garden as a painting studio.
Scarlett Pimperal is a classic story of heroism and adventure and has become very popular not only as a book but also as theater plot. The Broadway version has become very popular and has given a platform to many upcoming and established artists. The book was authored by the Hungarian author, Baroness Emma Orczy. Orczy passed away at the age of 82. The story is set against the backdrop of the French Revolution.
Percy Blakeney represents the well known fictional super-heroes like Superman, Batman and Zorro. These heroes undertake to rescue French aristocrats by disguising themselves. In the 1934 classic, the role of Sir Percy Blakeney was played by the screen heart-throb Leslie Howard. His co-star was Merle Oberon.
With the transformation of the book into a movie by Broadway shows, Ronald Melrose, the music director who has produced exhilarating music also gained many accolades. Not surprisingly, Broadway shows have produced a second version of Scarlet Pimperal and it has been aired at the Minskoff Theater. Jane Greenwood, costume designer for Scarlet Pimpernal, added another feather to her hat in the production house, Broadway.
