skySanta Monica, Sep 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Come September 25 and the Santa Monica beach is again abuzz with the art of ‘Glow’. With artists coming in from all across the globe, the event this year is set to surpass that of 2008. The event began at 7pm in the evening and will continue till 3am in the morning. The biennial event was attended by more than 200,000 people in 2008 and this year the number is expected to go past the mark due to some big names coming into the event. The object of the event is to produce art on the beach while the audience can witness the creation and genius of the artists. The artists will receive payment for their display at ‘Glow’ though admission to the event is free of cost for the visitors.

Among some of the big names who will be seen this year are Anne Bray from Los Angeles, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer from Canada and Celeste Boursier-Mougenot from France. One piece of art that has caught the fancy of most visitors at the event is the one by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer which has two sand boxes that show the images of the visitors when they approach it and then show their hands projected on the beach through the huge projectors.

Prior to the event, an open call to the artists across the globe was organized at Los Angeles. The 15 artists who will be showing off their art at the event have been selected after they were found to be suitable for the event. The artists will recreate the Santa Monica beach into a haven of interactive and temporary artwork.
