Loan Kim Nguyen, a 24, mother of two and a former beauty contestant from the East Bay was killed in her San Mateo home , while passing her children to police.
The gunman, Raymond Gee,22, a mentally unstable man from East Oakland , who shot himself shortly after shooting Loan Kim Nguyen .
A SWAT team reached the house in the morning after the victim’s husband called and reported that an armed robber had entered his house with his wife and two children inside.
As police officers tried to enter the house, the suspect was unwilling to negotiate and fired at officers.
Nguyen managed to barricade herself in a bedroom above the garage with her children before she could hand over her children, 1 year-old girl and 3 year-old boy to the police safely through the window , but herself was shot to death as police standoff.
Neighbors reported that they saw Raymond Gee around the area few days before shooting. However investigators believed this case in not just a random case, as they found that Gee was arrested of weapons possession before and he had been using the Internet to pursue Nguyen for several weeks.
According to police, Gee must have sneaked through open garage door of the house as he knew Nguyen’s husband left for work. Nguyen managed to text an alert to her husband and hand her two young children to arriving police officers just before being felled by what seems to be fatal gunshots. By the time police smashed their way inside, Gee, too, was dead from a single gunshot to the head.
