No wonders, it was organized by the two ace comedians of “comedy Central”, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Although it was meant to promote the democrats, the event was executed in a very entertaining style. No one could even imagine in their wildest dreams that the event would be studded with the surprise appearances of a few unpredictable celebrities- the former basketball great Kareem Abdul Jabbar and comedian Father Guido Sarducci, the chain smoker. However, it was the surprise appearance of Sam Waterston, for whom the audiences were taken aback.

Sam Waterston performed immediately after Father Guido Sarducci, who set the mood with his prayer. Sam Waterston recited a poetry with an in-depth movie trailer voice. Sam Waterston, captivated the audience as he recited the hilarious. The poem consisted of funny lines that were remotely sensible like, “Someone’s robbing your house/ and I can see through your blouse” and then it was followed by yet another pun, “Your mother was right/ you chose the wrong spouse.” People were surprised when he said that the poem was composed by Sam Waterston himself, the man, who is also known as the “Most Reasonable man In America”.

“Rally To Restore Sanity” also saw the performances of stars like Sheryl Crow, T.I., Jeff Tweedy, Mavis Staples, Ozzy Osbourne, Cat Stevensand Kid Rock. However, there performances were scheduled, and therefore the guest appearances of Sam Waterson rather came as a delight to the event which had more than three thousand people.
