Oct 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Celebrating Halloween can be fun and it is an occasion for which people wait an entire year in great anticipation, however with all the excitement and noise on Halloween, things could be a little disturbing for the pets. People love their pets and therefore should exercise care in ensuring that the pets remain safe and undisturbed in general and from pranksters alike. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals has asked pet owners to be on the lookout for potential dangers and ensure the safety of their pets. The following few tips should be kept in mind.
Keep the number of your vet or ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center handy in case one’s pet swallows something toxic. Chocolate, especially dark and baked ones are harmful for cats and dogs and all kinds of candies and chocolates should be kept out of their reach. Ensure that carved pumpkins and other items of decorations are well out their reach. In case one has a costume in store for their pet, ensure that the pet does not feel constricted in it. Halloween costumes look cool and add flavor to the event but seeing strangers in strange costumes is not something that appeals to pets, so keep them in a separate room if possible.
Lastly Kids have a very innocent idea about pranks so ensure that kids and pets stay away from each other as they can end up harming each other. In case one is planning to be out with their kids for Trick Or Treating then it is advisable to leave the pets at home, if not then ensure that they are wearing their license on their collar if they have one.
