Washington DC, Feb 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board said on Tuesday that the probable cause of an airline crash into a house in Buffalo, was due to pilot errors.
They said that the crash can be attributed to errors by the pilots. However they also said that the actual problems of the crash, were actually beyond a particular event. The Head of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board - Deborah Hersman, is very anxious of the fact that accident has brought the issue back, whether the regional airlines have the same level of safety standards, as the major airlines. Deborah also said that the board would also focus on this particular incident, so that further accidents can be averted. She also criticized the Federal Aviation Administration for its inability to address the safety concerns of the regional airlines.
It may be recalled that a Continental Connection Flight 3407 had crashed on the 12th of February 2009. Continental Connection Flight 3407 is operated by Colgan Air Inc., which is a regional air carrier. The crash took the lives of 49 onboard passengers. A person who was standing on the ground was also killed. The safety investigators said that the probable cause of the accident, was that both the pilots were tired, and so they were not agile enough to prevent the crash. The investigators said that in case the pilots were not fatigued, then they would have had been sane enough to prevent the crash and the lives of over 49 people.
The National Transportation Safety Board has also compiled a list of preventive steps, and recommendations for the regional carriers. They are also thinking about legislation which will look into the pilot tiredness issues, so that further accidents can be prevented.
