Pei WeiChandler, July 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The employers of the Chandler branch of restaurant chain Pei Wei have come under the scanner after firing twelve employees from their jobs at the restaurant. While the Pei Wei authorities are of the opinion that they have taken this step after the concerned employees failed to show up for work, all twelve employees say that they have been politically victimized.

It has been reported that the twelve employees who have been asked to exit the Pei Wei restaurant in Chandler were rallying for a political cause at the anti-SB 1070 protest rally while they should have been working in the restaurant. The employees however had thought that their employers would support their cause and would sympathize. Now that they have not done so, the twelve sacked members of Pei Wei have vouched to take action against their employer. According to reports from Chandler, they not only want their jobs back but also want a formal apology from the Chandler Pei Wei employers.

The Chandler Pei Wei restaurant had to function with a team of only eighteen members instead of the thirty who were supposed to work on that particular day. It has also been alleged by the twelve concerned employees that this is the first time in the history of Pei Wei that employees who have not been able to come for work have been sacked. Earlier the rule was that an employee who remains absent without prior notice was penalized and let off. No comments of the restaurant authorities have been recorded by the media. It is being said that the twelve employees will take the help of a local union group to solve their dispute with Pei Wei.
