Sacaton, AZ man sentenced for involuntary manslaughter

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (BNO NEWS) – A man of Sacaton, Arizona, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter involving the death of a 12-year-old boy, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

Jayal Howard, 40, was driving a vehicle on the Gila River Indian Reservation on July 11, 2008. The car contained three passengers, including c boy of 12 years old. Howard was driving at an excessive speed and under a .14 BAC level.

Howard came upon a large pool of water on the roadway, he attempted to drive through it but by doing so he lost control of the vehicle resulting in a roll-over. The victim was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

Howard pled guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter on December 16, 2009.
