June 28th, 2010 - 10:21 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington DC, Jun 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The husband of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died. Her husband was Martin D. Ginsburg, who was the law professor at the Georgetown University. He was 78 years old.
He was said to be one of the best experts in the region of tax law. Ruth and Martin had been married for 56 years, and they were one of the most successful Washington couples. Their first meeting was a blind date at Cornell, more than half a century ago, (1951 to be precise). At that time, Ruth was barely 18 years and she married Martin at the age of 21 years.
Ruth was madly in love with Martin, and had said about her husband that, he was “my best friend and biggest booster.” Ruth Ginsburg added that, he was “the only young man I dated who cared that I had a brain,” during an earlier interview.
Whereas in an earlier interview, the 1932 born Martin had said about his marriage that, “As a general rule, my wife does not give me any advice about cooking, and I do not give her any advice about the law.” Perhaps that was their secret to their marriage, which spanned more than half a century.
