Moscow, Nov 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Russian newspaper, Kommersant has named the “double” spy who aided the American authorities to break the ring of 10 Russian spies that were rounded up in the United States. The newspaper claim that the intelligence agent was also working for America against Russia.

The newspaper named Col Shcherbakov as the “double agent”. He works with the Russian Foreign Intelligence Agency and he is said to be a senior officer at the agency. That makes the allegations of the newspaper very serious. The newspaper alleged in the report that the agent was required to plant moles in the United States intelligence but rather ended up betraying their Russians to the United States.

The newspaper claimed that Col Shcherbakov went to the United States just before the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited the United States. Just after the visit of the President, the 10 Russian spies were rounded up by the United States authorities. The newspaper further said an unnamed Kremlin official has hinted that the colonel’s life is in danger for the betrayal. The paper alleges that hit squad has already been dispatched to kill him.

Russian officials declined to comment on the report of the newspaper.
