hubard Moscow, Apr 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Russia has banned all the books and the recordings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. The Russian attorney general office said that all the Scientology literature was of the ‘extremist’ kind. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said that the Scientology literature qualifies as “undermining the traditional spiritual values of the citizens of the Russian Federation.” So under the ban, 28 books by the founder of Scientology have been covered.

The Russian prosecutors have said that anybody who is found in possession of the banned Scientologist literature can be fined $100 or they can also be placed behind bars for a fortnight. And the ironical thing is that, in the past the European Court of Human Rights had also fined Russia, because they had refused to register Scientology as a ‘religious entity’.

In some countries, the Church of Scientology is given the status of a church, or even a legitimate faith. Whereas in some other countries, it is thought to be a cult in which people become members, just because they are given money to become members. The Church of Scientology has reacted to the Russian ban on their faith, and they said that the ban is in fact a mistake, which has been caused by misunderstanding.
