SVENSEN, OREGON (BNO NEWS) — A young girl was killed when she was attacked by a Rottweiler at her home in Svensen, Oregon, authorities said on Monday.

The incident happened on Sunday around 1 p.m. local time in the 42000 block of Hillcrest Loop Road, just east of Astoria.

County authorities say Jesse Browning phoned 911 to report that his 4-year-old daughter, Ashlynn Anderson, was attacked by one of the two family Rottweilers.

“As paramedics worked to save the young girl’s life, Lifeflight was dispatched and responded to a field adjacent to the residence,” said Clatsop County Sheriff Tom Bergin. “Ashlynn was transported to [Oregon Health & Science University] in Portland.” She was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

Deputies have transported the two dogs to the Clatsop County animal shelter where they remain quarantined. “Clatsop county detectives will conduct a follow up investigation after the family has had time to grieve,” Bergin said. “There appears to be nothing criminal in this event. This was a sad set of circumstances and a very unfortunate death.”

Clatsop County Medical Examiner Dr. Joanne Stefanelli will be involved with the autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
