Moscow, Dec 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has reportedly bought an Island in his home country of Russia for his art gallery.

The billionaire who was ranked 50 in the recent Forbes Rich List is the owner of English football club, Chelsea. It is reported that he is buying the Island for his private use. The Island reportedly costed him $400 million.

He is said to have been influenced by his girlfriend, Dasha Zhukova to buy the New Holland Island that is just outside the Russian city of St. Petersburg. It is believed that Abramovich plans to build offices, museums and galleries on the Island.

Abramovich is currently worth an estimated $11.2 billion. His takeover of the giant English club Chelsea generated a lot media interest. He is credited with the current exorbitant player wages and costs. That though did not last for long because he eventually decided that the football club should be able to support its own expenses.

For all the money that Abramovich has spent of Chelsea FC though, one trophy that has eluded him for all these while is the UEFA Champions League trophy. The club came very close in winning the trophy in 2007 but lost the finals to Manchester United during the finals in Russia.
