xenos_trio_200In her recent concert in Bucharest, Romania, Madonna commented, “It has been brought to my attention…that there is a lot of discrimination against Romanies and Gypsies in general in Eastern Europe. It made me feel very sad.” The comment was met with mixed response from her slew of admirers.

There were about 60000 onlookers who witnessed the diva thoughtfully reaching out as a firebrand of equality and freedom. Some sections of the public booed while others lauded her consideration for the Roma tribes who are a minority in southern and eastern Europe. The singer who has performed in the backdrop of several dancers and musicians from the Roma clan, seemed well aware of the fact that they are subjected to brutal unfair maltreatment from police and subjugated as nomads living in low-class ghettos, and were victims of racial discrimination.

Madonna trying to gain sympathy for the Roma Gypsies went on saying, “We believe in freedom and equal rights for everyone right? Gypsies, homosexuals, people who are different, everyone is equal and should be treated with respect. Ok? Let’s not forget that.”

Recently the Hungarian police arrested 6 for the killings of Roma ethnics. Atilla Petofi of the National Bureau Of Investigation told sources that racial killings was a common crime and Roma ethnics have been traumatized over the years by perpetrators who barge in their habitations on motorways and outskirts and murder them ruthlessly.

The Romani group has its origins in South Asia and the tribe has dispersed to several destinations now scattered in parts of North Africa, Middle East and America.
