Robin Bain accused for sexually abusing his daughter

- Laniet a sister to David Bain and the daughter of Robin Bain, recently told her employer, Stephen Cousins that she was having sexual intercourse with her father and that she was planning to go to the police.
Laniet works for Stephen Cousin in his diary that is situated just round the corner from the home of the Bain’s in Dunedin, on a part time basis.
According to the reports, Mr. Cousins said that Laniet confided in him that she was having regular sex with her father, Robin Bain, from the time the family had been residing in Papua New Guinea and when they moved back to New Zealand. Mr.Cousins also said that Laniet was making plans to go to the police and that if needed he was also ready to accompany her to the police as a kind of a support.
When cross-examined by Robin Bates the Crown prosecutor, on whether Laniet in any way appeared to be needy, Mr. Cousins replied that she did not appeared to be “needy”. “Not at all” was his actual reply.
In the earlier court proceedings, Mr. Cousins had told the court he had taken in Laniet on the account of the requests made by a group of girls on behalf of Laniet, so that with a job she would be able to “turn her life around.” He further added that girls had also told him that Laniet was regularly sexually abused by her father, Robin Bain.
Robin Bain who is principal at the Taieri Beach School was previously described as the “walking cadaver who was not capable of carrying out his duties” by the Ministry of the Education Officials when questions were raised on the on the teaching standard of the school.
