Riots break out in northwest China: state media

- URUMQI, China (BNO NEWS) — Riots broke out in the northwestern Chinese city of Urumqi on Sunday afternoon, sending police rushing to the scene, state media reported.
In a brief report, state media reported that an unknown number of people gathered in the capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, attacking passers-by and setting vehicles on fire.
“They also turned over traffic guardrail and interrupted traffic on some roads in the city,” it added.
Further details were not immediately available and the report did not mention any casualties.
