Richard Holbrooke Passes Away

Dec 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American diplomat Richard Holbrooke breathed his last on Monday at George Washington Hospital on Monday. The veteran diplomat was admitted to the hospital last Friday after he fell ill at Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton;s office. State Office spokesperson P.J. Crowley said that the US envoy was in a critical condition after his heart surgery. Richard Holbrooke is survived by his third wife, two children and two stepchildren.
The medical officials said that in his final moment also he was concerned about peace in Afghanistan and United States. His family members said that before entering into surgery, Richard Holbrooke said that the war in Afghanistan should be stopped. P.J. Crowley said that the medical officials were trying to calm down Richard Holbrooke and the latter said that he cannot do so as he is worried about Pakistan and Afghanistan. The spokesperson said that the conversation singularly focused on the fact that the Special Representative was concerned about restoring peace in the world.
President Barack Obama, who previously said that he was praying for speedy recovery of the US envoy expressed his condolence at the unfortunate demise of Richard Holbrooke. After Richard Holbrooke’s death, the president released a statement where it was stated that the envoy was a true giant of American policy and he has made the state a respected, safer and stronger place. President Barack Obama’s statement read that Richard Holbrooke’s relentless focus on the national interest of America has made the nation a better place. Former US president Bill Clinton said that the Special Representative secured peace, saved lives and restored thousands of live all over the world.
