The Rhode Island 2009 Air Show begins today, June 27 at 9 am in the morning. It is a two day event that will take place till tomorrow. Keeping up with traditions, the gates have been thrown open to the all those who have eagerly waited to be a part of the marvelous extravaganza. The earlier one reaches the venue, the better the scope of securing a good seat to get a bird’s eye view of the whole ground arena (the sky would be visible irrespective of where you sit).

The schedule reads something like this: the opening flag jump is going to feature the Black Daggers and will be accompanied by the National Anthem. This event will kick off the show. This will be followed by acts of Sean D. Tucker, John Klatt, Army Blackhawk Demo, Ed Hamill, F-22 Raptor, Mike Goulian, F-16 Viper, C-130J-30, The USASOC Black Daggers Mass Jump, The Horsemen P-51 Demo, Heritage Flight, Canadian Snowbirds, Combined Arms and The US Navy Blue Angles. The Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show is presently in its 18th year. Over the year it has become one of the biggest summer time events in Rhode Island, its approach always attracting a lot a attention. The show also gives opportunity to private organizations to sponsor a round or air event in the Air Show.

This year too, there has been a lot of practice sessions going on in the the RI sky leading to the inaugural ceremony. Even if people had somehow forgotten about the event, the flying jets would have surely reminded them.
