story2Utah, Aug 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The strong thunderstorm that had hit Salt Lake City and parts of Utah on Sunday made a mess of the traffic and power supply in the region. Not only the residents had to stay without electricity for hours on Monday but they also had to clean up their backyards with painstaking efforts. The streets of Salt Lake City were covered by the leaves and branches of tress which created disruption for traffic on Monday morning. Among the neighborhoods in Salt Lake City that lost a huge number of trees in the storm Rose Park deserves a mention. It has been reported that a huge tree in the region which was over a century old got uprooted by the storm.

Jilene Whitby who is a resident of Rose Park was lucky enough because her house was saved from a tree which fell beside it. The 90 feet tall tree could have smashed her house. The city administration embarked on city cleanup soon after the storm was over. In many places trees fell on the power lines and the lines got snapped resulting in widespread power cuts. The power cuts which persisted for several hours made the task of cleaning tedious for the crew and the residents. The roads in Salt Lake City wore an ugly look with debris and remains of tree everywhere.

The crews took heavy equipment for removing a huge tree in the Sugar House area. The tree fell on a SUV and damaged the vehicle. The cleanup cost in the valley may be over several hundred thousand dollars. The operation is likely to take some time.
