Research shows that teenage girls aged 16 get drunk more often than boys

The researchers claim that the results do not mean girls are consuming more alcohol than boys but rather they are getting drunk more frequently than boys. The study was conducted by Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
The researchers studied teenagers from several countries all over the world. In all about 38,370 respondents were involved in the project. They were selected from 23 countries from all parts of the world. Some of the results of the study were frightening to say the least.
The researchers for example realized that 80 percent of the respondent girls all admitted that they were regular drinkers. Another interesting statistic was that girls in Norway and Britain are drinking more often than boys in the two countries. The two countries were the only ones among the European countries where girls were found to drink more than boys.
Unfortunately the study also identified that binge drinkers were more likely to engage in unprotected sex and bully others. The research though found that girls are not likely to be binge drinkers if they have strong connection with their parents.
